TEO Sensor Observation Service

What is Sensor Observation Service? Sesnor Observation Service is an OpenGIS® service standard that defines interfaces to manage and retrieve real time sensor data, specifically "observation" data. As defined by OpenGIS®, "The OpenGIS® Sensor Observation Service Interface Standard (SOS) provides an API for managing deployed sensors and retrieving sensor data. Whether from in-situ sensors (e.g., water monitoring) or dynamic sensors (e.g., satellite imaging), measurements made from sensor systems contribute most of the geospatial data by volume used in geospatial systems today. This is one of the OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) [http://www.opengeospatial.org/ogc/markets-technologies/swe] suite of standards." TEO current provides Sensor Observation Service for real time UV data, and will be providing other types of data in the future. To use this service, you need first to get familiar with basic OGC SensorML, O&M Standards. More information can be found on http://www.opengeospatial.org/projects/groups/sensorweb. Our SOS implementation is based on 52North Open platform. Their website is at http://52north.org/. Reading their document will also help you to understand how to exchange data through OGC SWE Framework. Finally we have also provided several examples below for you to try our service. TEO Sensor Observation Service Examples: We have provided three examples below for you to get the taste of TEO SOS service. You can copy and paste each example xml file's content into the text area below, and then click submit. You will receive an XML(SensorML or O&M) document containing either the sensor schema information or real observation data. The data is available starting from Jan. 1st, 2006. To write your own program and interact with TEO SOS service, please use the address: http://sensorweb.cse.unt.edu:8080/teo/sos. 1. Get TEO SOS's capability (offerings, sensorid etc.): getCapability.xml 2. Get UV Sensor's schema information(SensorML): getSensor.xml 3. Retrieve UV data between Aug/01/2008 and Aug/10/2008: getObservation.xml   Paste the example in the following text area. Feel free to make changes and see what happens.
